A Script for Screen
* for ages 16+
* Course Code: S4S
* Course Fee: contact us
* Duration: 1, 2 or 3 Days
Our new Script for Screen Project is designed to discover the writers of tomorrow - so matter what their age today.
Our aim is to work with at least 10 educational institutions to produce a number of 10 minute film scripts with the intention of producing the winning script with a professional cast and crew.
At present we are awaiting confirmation of our arts council funding before confirming this project in 2014.
Upon signing up to the Script for Screen Project we will send you one of our workshop information packs explaining how the project works and how you can get started with your students beforehand. There will be example exercises you can run to help devise story ideas for your film and even how you can tie the project into the existing school curriculum.
We will then run a 1,2 or 3 day workshop at your school dependent on the number of students and how much you would like us to cover. The workshop will help students write a plot synopsis of their story in a film format. In groups students will then collaboratively expand their plot into a step outline [detailing scenes, characters, locations and the action within the script], they will then begin to expand the 'step outline" into a first draft adding dialogue as appropriate, we will then help the students professionally format a script and explain basic production principles.
Finally the students will pitch their script to the rest of the group and a vote will take place on the winning film.
The winning scripts will then be carried forward to our regional finals competing against other schools in the area. A panel of industry professionals will help to select the winning script - this will then be professionally produced using a full crew and trained actors.
BAFTA Showcase & Awards
The films produced for each area will then be carried forward to our BAFTA film screening and awards ceremony where we will award the best idea and best new writing awards to our national winners.

So-media.co.uk, the London Screen Academy and Dan Rowson are collaborating on an inventive new film project, produced through our followers on Twitter.
The project has been conceived to broaden the opportunities for those interested in film without the time, skills or opportunities to forge a dedicated career in it.
The project will begin by inviting followers to pitch an idea for a film within 160 characters. The most suitable and practical scripts will be selected and a shortlist of 5 presented to our audience to tweet & vote for. The winning film pitch will be carried forward to Phase Two.
In Phase Two twitter followers will be invited to submit their own 5-10 page script based on the winning pitch from Phase One. After the deadline the 5 best scripts will be shortlisted and again Twitter followers invited to vote for their favourite.
At the end of the vote the winning script will be announced and pre production will begin. Casting opportunities will be posted on our website and accepted solely through our twitter accounts. Our followers will again be invited to vote for their favoured actors based on the applications.
With our actors set, our twitter followers will be invited to vote on certain production decisions including; locations, costume and props. We'll even invite you to offer up your own services throughout the production.
We'll then professionally produce the film with an exclusive twitter screening of the final production.
Vote for your favourite performance from one of our actors and we'll even hold our own awards ceremony.
